    Castillo - Corrales, who wins?

Jose Luis Castillo just had an impressive win over Juan Lazcano and so did Diego Corrales in stopping Acelino Freitas. Two fearless warriors who loves to punch, it's gonna be a guaranteed slugfest! Who wins for the unified WBC & WBO lightweight belts? I like both fighters and i think it could go either way.

    Your thoughts. Thanks.

I think if Castillo trains right i see him winning by KO!

When castillo is in shape he is a rock and i believe he will be able to take Corrales' punch without much difficulty. Corrales is good but he is anything but illusive. If Castillo could get to Mayweather i see castillo testing Corrales chin all night till he goes down.

Well, he took all of Lazcano's best shots. i'm not sure though if he can take Chicco's short hooks...there's just so much torque behind those crosses...Freitas just looked like he ran at full speed into a brick wall. Vice-versa. I'm not sure how Chicco's chin will hold against JLC's assault...JLC i think hits a lot harder than PBF.

The first man who can land the first damaging shot will win it.

Castillo would be outmatched by Chico- Chico hits a hell of a lot harder then Lazcano and is not going to stay down even if he hits the canvas. Before Lazcano and Castillo fought everybody thought that Castillo was done- then he beats Lazcano and he is the man again, in my mind however, it is more likely that people were over-rating Lazcano then under-rating astillo. Some might make the same argument regarding Chico and Freitas- however just before fighting Freitas Chico beat the dynamic Joel Casamayor. I would expect Diego to have a surprisingly easy time...

          not to under-rate corrales
but his shots arent much compared to castillo and/or lazcano
remember these guys come into their fights as jr middles if not full middles
that is too much difference compared to frietas who was prodominatly a super feather
except for his fights with Grigorian where he won the belt and with corrales where he lost the belt
thats why chicos shots were so devestating
add the fact frietas was for the most part untested

First let me just say im a HUGE fan of both these guy and have them both ranked in the top 10 p4p on the site.

Its a bad bad style matchup for Castillo. The way to beat Corrales is to get on your toes and move, giving him angles and making him reach NOT to come right at him and try and trade.

By coming right at Corrales your playing right into his hands. Corrales would have a field day with Castillo.

Like NiGe2011 said I expect Corrales to have a surprisingly easy time in this fight.

your comparing a boxer who is 33 yrs of age Casamayor 31win 19ko
              to a 29 yr old power puncher? 33wins 25ko
theres no question that lazcano was the more difficult opposition
i pick Castillo in this one
i just dont see chico winning this one

Juan Lazcano doesn't even deserve to mentioned in the same breath as Joel Cassamayor.

you cant judge a fighter by his age. just look at Jones/Johnson one is clearly on the downside while the otherone is fighting better than he ever has.

I'll pick Castillo to win here for his ability to find a way to give his opponent trouble. He surprised me with his performance against Mayweather. Heck if he can tag (and rock) an elusive and defensive specialist like PBF, he can have an easy time hitting a Chico who has limited movement. Castillo has to watch Chico's punches though. Both men are capable of knocking the other out should they connect. I believe Chico's going to be hit more in this fight.

Actually, i'm leaning just a bit for Chicco because of what you've just pointed out Jose, NiGe2011. Freitas was doing a great job in the first 6 rounds by moving a lot and taking pot shots on Chicco, unfortunately for Popo he got tired and Chicco eventually caught up with him. Yeah, Corrales would have more chances against Castillo coming in a toe-to-toe battle. Styles makes fights. But then again, Castillo is not a Freitas either...JLC just hits a lot harder and add to the fact that Chicco's chin can be cracked. IMO it's a pick 'em kind of a fight. It could go either way.
