SO WHAT!!! First Wes Ferguson (remember him?), now Jesse Vargas, soon Deandre Lattimore.

I'm more offended this guy actually made 6 figures for the stale efforts he's put up. As someone said, I have NO IDEA what Floyd, Leonard or any of those guys saw in him "boxing" wise.

If Arum is that petty to do this solely for spiting reasons, then it shows how petty he is. This guy will be fed to Arum's lions (I could see Bradley and him in a FOX TV fight) and he'll soon fade into "bolivian" (Mike Tyson,lol)

I am not surprised by this. As fighters make their name in smaller promotional companies, when their contract is up they move on to the big boys. In this case it is Top Rank or Golden Boy.
Mayweather is a popular guy and has made a lot of money off of his skills in and outside the ring, but so far his promotional company is still the minor leagues. If he is serious about becoming a promoter he needs to surround himself with good people who know how to run a business, just like Oscar did when he brought in Schaffer. Something tells me that Ellerbe is just not that guy to run a serious multimillion dollar business.
After all you don't want to end up like Roy and his crappy square ring promotions.

yeah, since vargas isnt that talented the only relevant point here is Arum snatching up one of floyd's guys...funny how vargas walks around @ like 170 though...look @ that pic! Seems to be the trend...to dehydrate fighters so they can beat on smaller opponents...then feed them to their stable's "correct weight class" fighters afterwards...all vargas sees is $$$ though...he'll get beat down soon....he lost to josecito anyway

Vargas isn't that good. He'll be a decent contender, who will be fed to Bradley and Solomon.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over this if I were Floyd.

I actually think Vargas can win a world title, if he fights the right opponent. I dont think he will unify titles but he is a guy like Danny Garcia: give him the right opponent and he can beat him. Give him a top opponent and he probably wont beat him. no disrespect to Jessie Vargas, but I really dont see why Mayweather called him "the future of boxing"

So much energy for a guy thats average at best. If Floyd name wasnt in this story nobody would give a s_hit. This bum still has alot to prove. Maybe Arum whispered sweet nothings in his ear for the past six months. Who is there for this kid to fight? Not ready for Bradley, Manny, or anybody else of note. 10 to 1 Bailey gives this kid a smack too. I see ESPN Fri Night Fights in this kids future. Hes definetly not getting anymore PPV undercards.

Why this kids are saying it is a bad move? Go and check who promoted Oscar, Floyd, Pac and Cotto during their careers and made them more than a name. They have a brand. They sell. Maybe Vargas is not that good, but is a wise move considering that TR its still in top of the game and they know the business more than Ellerbe and Floyd combine.
