34% of UK schools now teach boxing - approx 2000 schools

    http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f53/wh...l#post70513279

In the last four years alone the number with boxing on the curriculum has risen from 20 to 1,931 and, according to the latest national school sports survey, it is now available in 34 per cent of secondary schools.
Some other interesting numbers here. There are 50k female boxers in the UK ... as opposed to 20k male pros in the whole world. Boxing is officially ranked as the 75th most dangerous sport in the UK.

    Well US what's your excuse?
    Pansies.

You won't see this in the U.S. I always wanted schools to have boxing. It would connect more boxers with education, instead of choosing one over the other. Like college football, baseball, basketball. Boxing needs that too.

Boxing was cut in UK schools until very recently. It happened for all the same reasons it did in the US so never say never.

The two best countries to live in if you want to train as a boxer all year around without paying an arm for it, are Mexico and Puerto Rico. The PR government actually supports boxing, and their are many free gyms to fight in over there. At least that's what I was told from a few PR friends. And if they charge, it;s dirt cheap. Not like paying $200-300/month here in NY for a boxing gym.
