No. The IRS only cares about the generated revenue. As long as that's accurate. He can make 'unofficial estimates' of the PPV buy rate all he wantsSurely Arum would run into tax issues if he exaggerated ppv numbers?
I mean if he says he did 1mil but really did 800k wouldn't the IRS want to know why he's only paying tax on 800k ?
Same with Mannys purse, would be ****** to publicly overestimate what you are earning, if anything you would downplay it.Last edited by deliveryman; 06-20-2012, 09:53 AM.Comment

how can you compare a 300 dollar dewalt tool to a 12 dollars case of tecate buying and getting a rebate are two different things .get lost pac fan whats done is done get over it and move on fight happened two weeks agoComment

You either need to stop with the hate, or with the ignorance. Cotto, a future hall of famer, is in the top 5 biggest draws in boxing, Alvarez is already a star in Mexico, add that to a cinco de mayo weekend fight. Mosley is old and shot, but he still has a relatively large fan base owing to his old career.
That being said though, I think Mayweather sells a bit more than Pac. Not worldwide though, only in the USComment

Mayweather will use this against Pac in future negotiations. Even though Mayweather had Cotto's name to help get the numbers he did. He'll also have more leverage since Pac "lost" his last fight. Mayweather/Pacquiao is more likely than ever. The Bradley "loss" was a blessing in disguise.Comment

Absolutely not! Since Arum says the fight sold 900,000, that means it actually sold 600,000. We will never know because the official numbers will never be released, but based on his history of lies, Arum's quoted numbers are usually 1/3 higher than the actually number. Example: Arum: 'Pac/Cotto sold 1.6 million PPVs'. HBO: Pac/Cotto sold 1.2 million PPVs; Arum: 'Pac/Margarito sold 1.5 million PPVs'. HBO: Pac/Margarito sold 1.1 million PPVs.
Arum also claimed that Pac/Mosley sold 1.3 million PPVs. That means it actually sold 800,000. Arum claimed that Pac/Marquez III sold 1.4 million PPVs. That means it actually sold 900,000 PPVs.Comment

Mayweather generates more PPV revenue per fight. And even though some of Pac's fights have sold more tickets, Mayweather's fight generate as much and often more ticket revenue because his ticket prices are higher.
If Floyd was smart, he'd come out of jail and offer Pac 60-40 publicly. Even though I'm sure 60-40 has been discussed, which is probably why Merchant asked Floyd if he'd come off his 60-40 stance on the split, it'd be good to publicy say that. Because there's clowns that think he wants all PPV money no matter what and that no split could be worked out.
Offer that or 55-45 if he was generous.Comment

I agree. Floyd was thinking business first when he stated that he wanted to fight Pacquaio on May 5. That fight would have generated 2 million PPVs. Unfortunately, Bob Arum refused to sit down with Mayweather's promoter to discuss the fight. So Mayweather chose to fight Cotto, a guy who would help bring in the best numbers instead of ignoring the fans demand and the accountants and fighting the only guy left in his promoter's stable that he hadn't fought yet. That's the thing. Floyd always says, "it's business first" .... Floyd knew that Cotto will help bring in the numbers. Plus having Mosley and Canelo is an added bonus that represent different fan bases and therefore bring in more PPV hits.
but then Floyd fans turn around and say that Floyd has the PPV numbers without considering that Floyd thinks "business" before "truly qualified opponents".
Damn you, Floyd Mayweather!!!
