Being Busy Without Being Efficient Shouldn't Factor Into Scoring

I'm still gutted over the Adamek v Chambers highway robbery. Apparently, defense, accurate punching and ring generalship don't count for **** nowadays when it comes to scoring fights. Have a high work rate and you're guaranteed to earn a decision over a counter puncher who beat you to the punch all night and edged you BIG on the punch stats.

Hitting thin air and gloves is a perfectly efficient way of winning a fight it seems. You got a 15% connect percentage? No prob, throw twice as many useless shots, deceive the judges into you being the aggressor and overshadow your opponents 33% connect percentage.

Chambers more than doubled Adamek's connect percentage and managed to outland him 152-134 despite throwing less than half his shots. That's a ****ing ass whipping right there.

Scoring in boxing these days is quite difficult because you don't know what judges are looking for anymore.

I didn't watch the fight properly, as I was tuned into Chavez Jr - Lee... but from what I saw, Chambers looked damn good, especially considering he'd hurt his arm (Or so the commentators said).

It looked close at times to me, but it was clear the fix was in. One judge only gave Eddie, what was it, 1 or 2 rounds? Man, this has been a bad year

I haven't seen this fight yet, but I have trouble believing out landing a guy by 18 punches over 12 rounds (or 1.5 punches per round on average) is an ass whipping however many punches were thrown. I don't think efficient punch numbers should play into the judges scoring of the fight. I'd even say judges seem to reward activity more than less activity with better connection percentages more often than not.

i havent seen that fight yet but you are right on your assesment of scoring in the sport.

most ppl dont even know what the four criterias for scoring a fight are! i cant tell you the amount of times i seen ppl on this site or elsewhere say defense dosnt win fights. really!? you might wanna check that out son!

ppl dont know defense is a criteria, they dont know what ring generalship even means and cant tell teh diffrence between aggression (which doesnt score points) and effective aggression (which does score points).

they have a hard time seeing which punches land and which dont land too, most fans use compubox and the commentators opinion on which punches land rather than their own eyes.

all in all ppl are ****ing cluesless when it comes to scoring. it just comes down to who is moving forward and who is throwing more punches.

Give me a break. you can sit an 8 year old in front of a fight and he can tell you who won. It's not rocket science

In the few rounds I watched, I saw more than one round he deserved. Even if Adamek did deserve to win, that scorecard is still a joke.

if its one sided yes, but thats not always the case. if a fight is competetive most ppl dont know how to score it, the ppl who claim its the most simple usually have the least clue.

they are the ones just looking at whos coming forward and throwing more. they are the ones who dont count in defence, who dont know what ring generalship is and who base the amount of punches that acctually land on what the commentators say rather than whats actually happening.

scoring a fight is easy, scoring it properly is apparently quite hard since its done so rarely amongst fans.
