Easy work for JR. Too big, too strong, too much skillz.

The reality is, Martinez is a better fighter than Jr. But, he's also a guy that could easily be fighting as a jr middleweight. In another era, Jr would be a light heavyweight. Macklin and Barker were able to bully Martinez at times. Jr brings even more size and skill to the table. And, he invests to the body. My stance has always been that skills and talent beats size. So I'd be reluctant to pick Jr. But he is so much bigger, and style-wise, I think he could give Martinez a lot of issues, especially if that fight makes it to the later rounds.Comment

Chavez has power and Lee made him look great using little movement and power, but less not get ahead of ourselves. Martinez would of KOed last night's Lee and still after a great performance, Martinez movement makes a completaly different fight. Martinez style is trouble for Chavez, who surprised with a sane inside fight.Comment

Martinez has incredible stamina, and we all know about his speed. He poses a totally different challenge for Chavez. But this is a solid win (assuming he took a urine test,) and I give him credit for that.Comment

Martinez just needs to insist on OST or no fight because it's no coincident that there's been funny business when it comes to Jr's testing. Dude is a super middle fighting @160 and a cruiser-wt by fight time. Don't be foolish, PED's are not to be taken lightly.Comment

Exactly. Lee didn't have the quick feet and energy to stay out of the trenches against Chavez. He was already slowing down, and the fight was only halfway done. Same thing with Zbik: he did well in early rounds, but couldn't move his feet, so he had to fight Chavez in the trenches. You gotta keep your feet moving against a power-punching inside fighter like Chavez. (Unless you're an even more effective inside fighter, like Andre Ward.)

Lee made Emanuel Look real bad last night. That was a very foolish fight plan he tried to carry out. How could he abandon the jab after it was working so well.Comment

He tested positive for diuretics in November 2009, which can help you lose water weight faster and/or help you mask steroid use.Comment

time to bring on martinez! i think martinez wins it..chavez jr still gets hit too much and was getting hit too many times with lee's left hand...and martinez is much stronger and more accurate and just overall better than lee. the only thing martinez will need to do is to keep chavez jr on the outside and avoid those body punches as much as possible..Last edited by Bermuda; 06-17-2012, 12:39 PM.Comment
