Eddie Chambers weighed in at 202 pounds for the Adamek fight, which is almost the cruiserweight limit. I dont know Chambers' body, because I dont live in it, I just know that from the outside it looks he could be a cruiserweight. Is the reason why he competes at heavyweight his speed advantage over most heavyweight fighters? Frankie Edgar, a UFC fighter and former UFC lightweight champion, fights at lightweight because he has a speed advantage at this weight class, which he admitted. But at fightnight he always has a big weight disadvantage cause he is a very small lightweight. Edgar is a highly skilled fighter with exceptional handspeed for the lightweight weight class, but he also has a pretty big power DISadvantage, therefore got beaten by Benson Henderson in his last fight and Edgar looked bruised and bloodied in lots of his fights. Fans and the UFC want Edgar to move down in weight to fight Jose Aldo, the champ of a lower weight class, but Edgar refuses to do so, basically saying he enjoys his speed advantage at lightweight and he probably knows Jose Aldo and the other "small guys" are as fast as he is. - I guess Eddie Chambers fights at heavyweight for the same reason- he has a speed advantage. I dont think Chambers would have a speed advantage against the top cruiserweights like Yoan Pablo Hernandez, and I think Chambers knows it.
Just like Chris Byrd never had big troubles against the big boys cause he had a speed advantage over almost all heavyweights.
What do you guys think? I think Chambers could make Cruiserweight, but I think he might be an average competitor in that division, whereas in the heavyweight division, he can "at least" be a gatekeeper, using his superior speed.
