This is true. Punches to the ears can cause temporary or permanent damage to internal parts and/or the auditive nerve. Why should a guy who just suffered such a blow fight the rest of a fight giving so much advantage to the other fighter? I watched the fight and I thought there were a total of 4 illegal blows: a headbutt, a low blow, a punch to the kidney and a punch to the head of a guy who was defenseless after the first three illegal shots. A good part of the fault is the referee who was very distant of the fighters and allowed the last blow when he should have been restraining Rojas of taking advantage of the situation. In all fairness the final decision should have been a DQ in favor of Arce, who nobody really knowing boxing can consider a coward. It was just a series of unfortunate events, poor officiating and now a ridiculous unknown fighter trying to take out of proportion what he achieved using his dirty tactics.

Arce also low blowed in the first round and ref told him to keep them up. You can clearly see that Rojas' punch hit the arm first, and when Arce turned he got hit in the back of the ear. By the way, that was a 9-9 round. Arce was getting owned after the knock down. Rojas was pressuring him and Arce looked completely lost. Arce has always been a warrior, and should get the benefit of the doubt. He got hit with a body punch, a head butt (unintentionally) and a hard legal punch in back of the ear (not the head) that is enough to make someone lose their equilibrium. Also for all these posters who make this a nationality insult, learn to be a fan of the sport and the men that risk their lives every time they step in the ring, regardless of where they come from.Comment

There are no 9-9 rounds dude. One fighter has to earn 10 points per round. If a fighter gets knocked down in a round, he is then fighting to make that round a 10-9 round, as oppose to a 10-8 round.Arce also low blowed in the first round and ref told him to keep them up. On the Arce situation its kind of tough call. If it was another fighter in that situation that night, I wouldn't really believe them. After all he was given 5 minutes to recover from the low blow, and the punch to the ear. It was still early in the fight so its not like he has already been receiving massive amounts of damage. However because it was Arce and the fact that he has shown during his entire career to be nothing less than a true warrior in the ring he does deserve the benefit of the doubt. Rojas should not be calling him a coward.Last edited by JJRod; 06-16-2012, 02:44 AM.Comment

I couldn't say it better myself, agreed 100%.I don't think the blows were as bad as they make them out to be. I like Arce but it looked completely like he was trying to get a DQ win ala Hopkins. How ironic that he says he can't get up but when they ruled it off he got up quick and did an interview like nothing. I paid for the PPV so yea I'm pretty pissed at the shit he tried to pull.Comment

I am an a Travieso fan.
there is 2 points that I want to make
1. I have never seen Travieso holding in the inside and backing up so often.
2. watch the slow-motion Rojas dodge under Arces's jab and Arce leans on him pushing his head down there is the first ilegal blow, when Arce get hit low he let go his head and duck from the low blow there is the headbutt, After the headbutt he turn his back on rojas there is the kidney shot, Arce bends over and he gets a shot in the ear.
3. We are talking about two bodies in motion trying to destroy each other, this kind of things happens
4. When Arce was on the floor he was holding the back of his head or the side of his head, he was faking it. I think theres more to it.
5. That was going to be the best fight of the evening, Arce did the same when he fought Vasquez Jr. He had the better fight, TR did it again First fight was a mismatch, second boring, Jones lost to a one arm boxer who has throwing 25 punches per round(the ko was spectacular)
6. Rojas should stay classy, He thinks that the only way he can get a rematch is by calling Arce out but Arce is for better paydays, so I don't think the rematch will happen.Comment

The ref did a great job
Arce was leaning on rojas pushing him down after missing a jab. watch the slow-mo, this is more complicated, there is tho bodies in motion. Arce pushed Roja's head down making a body shot a low blow.Comment

Sad that Arce was looking for a way out after that bruising first round he took
Like Mr. Fantastic said, it felt very similar to the Dawson/Hopkins I fight.
That "low blow" landed on the elbow first and then slid to the nut sack, no way intentional and with the full force behind it. The headbutt was a result of Rojas head being pushed down, and Arce took a hit to the ear because of his own fault, at any point should anyone turn away from their opponent or put their guard down?

I just don't know.. Arce never quits, not even when he is all bloodied and beaten.. he showed that on many ocassions, with Hussein, and WVJR.. but somehow he wanted to get away from this fight, maybe this young'un hits pretty hard, and he felt this kid's power... was complaining about a buzzing ear, and at the time of being interviewed, he was just fine. I am a 100% mexican, born and bred, but Arce *****ed out..
