  • Winky's sick, but will fight anyway

"People wanted me to pull out," Winky Wright told his hometown paper, the St Petersburg Times yesterday. "I'm fighting, trying to get it out of my system. I don't know what it is. It's just a cold. Got a stuffed up chest, stuffed nose, but hey, I'm here. It don't matter what it is, I'm here and I'm fighting." Although noticeably congested, Winky had hard workouts Wednesday and Thursday.

Roy got KO'd vs Tarver when he was sick leading up to the fight. But, Soliman isn't known for Power. Hopefully Winky is at his best.

I hope he's in good enough health to beat Soliman Because i wanna see Taylor vs Wright.

I think this might change the odds in Vegas. I would be more tempted to take Wright if the line dropped a bit.

I hope you're not making excuses for Roy's dismal performance

Why is Solimon rated as the #1 contender anyway? The best guy he has beaten is the great Raymond Joval who has never beaten a top 10 contender himself. Joval's claim to fame is sharing the ring with Vargas. Ikeke should be fighting Wright this weekend.

if it was the flu or something serious like that, i would be concerned. but since its just a cold, he shouldnt have too much trouble with soliman.

I honestly, genuinely did not know roy was supposed to be sick before that fight (hmmm, I may not have given you such a hard time...nah, I would have ) Anyway, I agree with you on Soliman...long as winky can remain standing he should have no problem outpointing him. He'd have to be awfully damn sick to let his defense slip...

Winky will get past the cold and Soliman. He isn't a fighter with a weak mentality.

this is unfortunate, because excuses will be made if he loses, and it is possible we will not see a prime winky.
