Heavyweight Boxing does itself no favours.

You have Vlad and Vitali at the top obviously.

    Vladimir is obviously The Champion

Vitali is a strong titleholder, however shoving some vulnerability

Povetkin is an average belt holder

But I think Heavyweight boxing has more strength now than it has had for years.

If we look at the American game right now we have got:

    Mitchell
    Arreola
    Johnson
    Chambers
    Wilder

these are the guys that have the potential to be competitive at the top level, if they get their **** in order

If we look at Europe, we see a lot of depth:

    Haye
    Price
    Boytsov
    Fury
    Adamek
    Chisiora
    Helenius
    Pulev

I mean, the easiest way to sort the mess at heavyweight out would be to have a tournament. Single elimination:

    Price vs Mitchell
    Boytsov Vs Arreola
    Fury Vs Wilder
    Helenius Vs Chambers

That would be the best thing to happen in the division in years, winner gets Wlad, runner up gets Vitali, third place gets Povetkin.

I mean say for example Price won the tournament i.e.

    Price def Mitchell
    Price def Fury
    Price def Arreola

I mean if he (or any of the others for that matter) won a tournament like that, reeling off three consecutive wins, he'd have the best run of form of any heavyweight contender in years, ALSO he would have been in tough fights and therefore not be overawed as soon as he gets in with a skilled opponent.

Why can't something like this be set up?

Why do we allow guys like Arreola, mitchell, wilder etc to avoid each other, fight bums and then get in the ring with a Klitschko?

Make them EARN their shot, and maybe they would put up a better fight when they get in there!

This is how boxing works today. Fight cans until you get a title shot, then you get destroyed and you go back to fighting cans. This will only end in the HW div when the Klits retire. No more mega payday : no need to hold out.

What happened to Malik Scott? He had a comeback fight in Feb but I haven't heard any news of him since.
