Yup, this is truly a step up to the plate and a very smart move.
Floyd, if his true intentions actualy were to clean up the sport, should have done this from the start.

And if they are sep up properly it would be a tax write off also. I hope more fighters follow Nonito and step up. Promotion companies should also enforce this on all there fighters.

Even if Floyd would have done this, would his opponents have done this? The answer is a big fat NO. His opponents all would have begun testing only once the fight was confirmed. And therein lies the problem. It can't just be one fighter doing year-round testing, while everyone else is not.

I guess it would have to be a situation where you get one of these promotion companies, like Golden Boy or Top Rank, to demand that all their fighters enroll in such a program. That will take a long time to implement, talking years.

So far, how many boxers out of the tens of thousands in action have taken the test. You should think before you spout. the answer is........NONE. Donaire is the first. Khan perhaps he does it, 'm not sure, he did it for a couple of years as an amateur and says it's no problem for him to do it again. But I'm not sure that he continued year by year.

Again, Donaire is being reported as the FIRST. And it seems that Top Rank is the first Promotion Company to endorse it. The Golden Balls endorsement is only for the 8 weeks or so before the actual fight. Mainly because they promote Mayweather who started the whole thing to road-block the Pacquaio fight a couple of years ago. PR crap. Mayweather has been doing for his last 2-3 fights. I'd appreciate correction if I'm wrong.

It's YEAR-ROUND testing which is the REAL testing, not the 8-weeks-before-the-fight crap which is mainly PR.

I doubt many would have. It took more than 2 years before other fighters started demanding the random testing. Year-round testing is much more of a commitment.

Promotional companies cannot make the random year-round testing mandatory. Only the boxing commission(s) can. And again, therein lies the problem.

And I highly doubt Pacquaio would have considered year-round testing. Has Pacquaio even undergone any random testing up til now? The answer is a huge NO. So how in the world did you come to the assertion that Pacquaio would have done year-round testing in the beginning? He rejected a 14-day window of random testing!

Great. Here's another obstacle to throw into Mayweather/Pacquiao negotiations if they ever fight. One will ask for USADA only while another will ask for VADA.
