Question about PPV's

Lets say a big time fight were to be shown on national TV instead of PPV. Would the ad revenues from commercial spots and sponsors cover the PPV buys? Or do PPV buys grossly outweigh whatever they could get from advertising dollars?

If they thought they could make more money with ad revenue on a network they would. Long term they might be able to, but not short term, which is why we don't see big fights on free tv.

Yeah, i figured only the huge mega events could generate that type of money. Do you guys think if pacquiao vs mayweather was shown on network TV, it would generate a ton more than if it were on ppv? And do you guys think it would beat SUPERBOWL ratings?
