I'm a little surprised that Schaefer was able to accurately repeat the first part of Arum's comment, but in repeating the second part, took it completely out of context. Deliberately so and showed lots of SLEAZE.

If he's continued on it would have read ".....make lots of money. (in the rematch) But who's going to take this sport seriously" This was the full comment reported with the writer's addition of (in the rematch). Without that little extra, he could have been referring to all the money which is on it's way into the kitty. Much of which, as we ALL know but always neglect to mention, will be paid out to the main event boxers, Pacquiao and Bradley.

You're talking condensed nonsense. This is a tired old canard. Top Rank/Arum doesn't owe Mayweather a cent. If they did, don't you think that Mayweather would be screaming the house down and taking Top Rank to court. He occasionally mentions it but always backs off when questioned.

Arum and other Top Rank people have been asked about this several times, and their answer, which is entirely believable, is this; "We did owe him money and were paying it off in payments. When we realised that he owed us much more, we immediately stopped paying, but 98% had been paid. We didn't bother to reclaim anything because the legal expenses would make it not worth it." I may be paraphrasing a bit but that's what they've said repeatedly.
