Walter Mathysse...anyone take a peak at him tonight?

He looks damn good for a prospect, he appears very very patient.

I get a different feeling (as opposed to other prospects like Litzau,Ward, Mares etc) when I watched him tonight and the fight only went 1 round, keep an eye on this kid.

    Anybody else watch him?

No I did not watch him.

I haven't really heard of him to be honest.

Can you give me the details about him.

        He did look solid.

Nice stoppage (1st round) last night on HBO Latino. His 1st fight in the US.

Would be nice to see him start to step up the competition now.

Man would I love to see him matched with Cintron.

        Here's some info on him:

When I watch prospects, most ot he time I come away with a "what the **** do I make of that" type reaction.

Most young knockout prospects are front runners too, they come out bombing away and it always leave you with a bit of a bad taste in your mouth because you know what they are doing now resemlbes nothing they will have to do in the ring against a real fighter.

Abner Mares for example, the kid is fast and looks good but he comes out with his guns a blazin and you cant help but wonder are his early knockouts hurting his cause more then helping?

There are man many more examples as you no but when I watched Walter last night even though the fight was very quick he did not take his man out like most young front running prospects normally do-your right it is certainly still a wait and see but I smell something good here.

Definatly time to step it up a notch though.

More fights in the US, and bigger names.

I know it was a Golden boy card last night, but he's not listed as a Golden Boy fighter on their site.

Anyone know if he has in fact signed with Oscar?

I think he needs some polishing, technique-wise.

yeah there was nothing spectacular about this guy ... when throwing the left hook - kept himself more open than maussa for an incoming hook. there was absolutely nothing about this guy in last nights performance that made me stop and be like "hey this dude is alright" not even that. looked like he was trying to emulate him compadre - carlos monzon - and kill the dude. was dudes hair patch on his chest shaved or what, looked like a dagger.
