Yet another rags-to-riches.....to rags boxing story. I shouldn't feel bad for him but I do. Holyfield was a true warrior in the ring and provided boxing fans with countless exciting cw-hw battles and he suffers from dementia pugilistica as a result of it all...

I agree.
I figured since he's been fighting for so long, the dementia part would be a matter of time.
But when was this actually confirmed?
I also think a big part of Holyfield being over his head in dept is due to the countless children.Comment

how can he owe that much? does he take out loans against it or something.Good news: Boxing legend Evander Holyfield recently sold his house for $7,500,000!!!
Bad news: It was at a public auction, he actually owes the bank twice that amount ... and he also owes over $200,000 in back taxes.

I don't know if it has ever been diagnosed, or at least, publicly. He slurs his speech, has trouble expressing his thoughts and his reflexes are shot to pieces. I'm not a doctor but it's not hard to see the symptoms and make the inference.Comment

You're making 10-20mil a fight in the prime of your career...probably totaling over $200mil for your entire career...
I can't see how a $300,000-$600,000 house, a nice $20,000-$30,000 semi luxury car, cable & internet, a gym membership, and peapod grocery service, a couple mil per child set aside for their future/college when they turn 18 or 21, savings for boxing retirement, supporting a charity or organization etc isn't enough.
It's just hard to think about squandering so much money...but hey, people get caught up in "the life" I guess...Comment
