Comments Thread For: Mike Lee's Commercial Success Doesn't Break His Focus

Mike Lee has no interest in becoming boxing’s answer to Jared, someone only famous for Subway commercials.

While the undefeated light heavyweight truly appreciates how much being a Subway spokesman has helped him reach audiences he otherwise couldn’t, he is much more focused on what occurs inside the boxing ring. On Friday night, Lee hopes to demonstrate some of the improvements he believes he has made over the past few months while working with trainer Ronnie Shields in Houston.

Mike Lee is not good at all. I saw him at his show at Notre Dame and he got hurt by some stiff in the 4th round. He is all hype. He is the type of fighter that is ruining boxing because he stinks and gets all kinds of exposure due to being a Notre Dame alum. Maybe Arum can manufacture a title like he did for Chavez with this kid. It's all business for him and his daddy!

        He's incredible for boxing

Hey All star, if you were at the Notre Dame event, you saw Mike Lee DONATE $100,000 to Notre Dame Childrens Charities. Name another fighter who has done that after 7 or 47 professional fights? I'll be watching Friday Night. I bet he wins convincingly.

He stinks and you know it! They are bringing him along at the tight pace, he has heart, but will get exposed.

Of all the things Bob Arum does that are disgraceful (Chavez Jr not fighting Martinez, not allowing pacquiao to fight mayweather, etc.), this might be exhibit A because he is stealing food off the table of REAL boxers. Mike Lee fought a couple of 3- 2 minute round novice fights thereby winning the novice division of the chicage golden gloves. He did this after winning some sort of fraternity boxing contest at Notre Dame. That is his boxing resume. This d-bag is being put on commercials and getting to fight on ESPN when he hasnt done anything to deserve it. Look on boxrec or wherever and you can find thousands of real fighters who are more deserving of exposure, a tv payday, or even some basic respect. His mere presence on ESPN spits in the face of all real fighters with real potential and career prospects who could have filled that spot. Just because he is some pencil pushing paper shuffling geek on subway commercials makes the powers that be think more people will tune in...Newsflash. Wed rather see real talent in a fight that matters- not some sideshow circus attraction.

u gotta remember that this is a business and Mike is generating revenue. he's got a huge following, every pro that starts out faces easy competitors to build their confidence, experience, & their record. he's only 8-0,chill out and let this guy keep developing before you trash the guy and his promoter. he's on the undercard and people DO want to see his fights.

FACT: there are THOUSANDS of Notre Dame alumni all across the Nation that will be tuning in to FNF that probably have never watched it before. Let this guy keep bringing people's interest to the sport of Boxing, in the US we need all the help we can get.

Fact: He does generate revenue because of his association with Notre Dame, not his boxing ability! He stinks!
