I'm sending a card, and I'm thinking about adding a teddy bear or something. I really feel for this guy, I can't imagine how it must feel to go from a world class athlete to not being able to walk.

I was one of the guys who often rooted against Paul, but it was only because he seemed unbeatable at one time, and I like an underdog. A 6'3 southpaw welterweight with 80 something reach, who throws a million punches per round? He was pretty remarkable in that way. But he proved himself to be a real fighter when he declared himself willing to challenge anyone between 147-168, and he made good on the challenges (becoming a middleweight champion along the way even). This is probably what made me into a real fan of the guy.

Irregardless of what went on inside the ropes (i.e. irregardless of the sporting aspect), I truly feel that Williams is one of boxing's good guys. It always seemed that the guy was a good human being with his heart in the right places. I don't of course know him personally or anything, but that was always the perception I had. Stay strong champion. Surely there are a lot of challenges to come, but if anyone can fight through this kind of thing Paul Williams is a good candidate for doing so.
