Seems pretty idiotic. Winky set himself up for failure. He could have just saved himself the effort and formally retired a few years ago. This was just silly.
Did he really think it was going to go any other way?? Was the Williams fight back in 2009 not enough indication for him you can't just pop in and out of boxing like that?? Certainly not at 40 frickin years old.
He came on strong in the end of the Quillin fight, but inactivity hurt him badly. 3 fights from 2007-2012 at his age against 3 top fighters. I thought he would beat Quillin. Floyd is supposedly an inactive fighter himself, and has 5 fights in the last 5 years. Which is an average of 1 fight per year in that span. Hopkins another oldy, knows what's up. He knows at his age he has to stay busy. From 2007-2012, Hopkins has 9 fights which is super active these days.
Quillin ruined Winky, Thats what happens when you fight Qullin the guy is beast.
Prime Winky gives hell to any MW and I'll go as far to say any MW in any era cuz the guy had a great boxing IQ one of the best Jabs ever with he's overall Defense and he's technical ability. Quillin ruined Winky :lmao1:

i agree with you. a prime winky would have destroyed a prime quillin
Wright screwed himself over for being so inactive after the Bhop fight. He could of still got some good wins around the middleweight division and still had some left in the tank at that point.
