More news on De La Hoya/Mayorga

According to Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya will be making his return to the ring in May against Ricardo Mayorga.

"It's signed," said Schaefer to Maxboxing on Wednesday night. "It will take place May 6th, on HBO Pay-Per-View and we have not finalized the site deal but it is virtually confirmed that it will be at the MGM Grand."

Sources say that Mayorga was in Don King's offices this past weekend, ironing out the final details of the fight.

If De La Hoya should come out victorious against the Nicaraguan wildman, there is a strong possibility he will fight again in September according to Schaefer.

Damn..nice..Even though DLH is way superior to Mayorga in boxing ability, I dont count Mayorga out, look at what he did to Forrest..all it takes is one punch, the dude hits hard as hell.

That's right. That's why I'm saying DLH could be in deep trouble here if it happens.

DLH has the superior boxing ability but you don't call Mayorga "tha MAD MAN" for nothing. He has the chin and is willing to be hit just for him to deliver his own bombs.

the reason tito destroyed him was that mayorga leaped 2 divisions, fought one of the hardest punchers in the last 20 years and he lsot some of his stamina and power due to the extra weight,i reckon tito vs mayorga at welter wouldve been a lot more competitive..delahoya better watch out,its gonna be a tough fight for him, even though he has better boxing skills, mayorga balances all that with chin, power and all out crazyness...

So you don't think leaping 2 division and getting his ass handed to him by tito hasn't taken a toll on his body.
