Martinez became the middleweight champ in April 2010. It took over 2 years for any the other top 10 middleweights to finally face each other. Kind of ridiculous. Actually now that I think about it, for all the hate Sturm gets, he's the only guy who has faced top 10 guys lately with Macklin, Zbik, and now Geale. The other top contenders have only been fighting fringe fighters. In this recent time period, I think Pirog vs Golovkin will be the first one not involving Martinez and Sturm.

I think Geale beats Sturm as well. I also don't think Pirog will get passed Golovkin .

yeah it is funny how sturm has been the only one doing that. you can argue he's been getting gifts or favored decisions with the sd over macklin and draw over murray. both fights have had people saying he should have lost. that said, this is great news. two great MW matchups, hopefully this livens up the division. i know it does for me. hopefully one of the two winners can get martinez in the ring. that or get another top MW like quillin or n'jikam. only thing i dislike about pirog/golovkin is that pirog's wbo belt won't be on the line.

Good fight! Can't wait to see this one. Now we get to see who therapy deal is. I am lulling for Pirog in this one.
