Khan, 25 - who won the Olympic silver medal in 2004 in Athens in the lightweight division as a 17-year-old sensation – insisted this week that when he fights World Boxing Council champion Danny Garcia on July 14 in Las Vegas, it will be his final fight at the 140lbs light-welterweight limit.

"Garcia's a great champion, and an unbeaten fighter, and I want to take care of him, and then move up to 147 [welterweight].”

"Then I'll probably have one more fight at 147 before I go on to the big, big names like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. But one step at a time,” said Khan.

"I've got ambitions in life to face the best, like Floyd Mayweather, but it's a waiting game at the moment, I've got Garcia in front of me at the moment and I'm 100 per cent focused on him."

Khan has previously insisted that a title fight with Pacquiao would be unlikely, as they share the same trainer in Freddie Roach, and training base at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, Los Angeles. However, if the Boltonian is ignored by Mayweather for the next 12 months, Khan will be splitting the Wild Card Gym in half and heading for a confrontation with Filipino politician-boxer Pacquiao.

Least that's what pricks on here will have you think.

Unless something's changed about GBP's plans, Khan will face Mayweather first before he does Pacquiao. If Mayweather is unavailable, there's Ortiz, Alexander and Guerrero to keep the fights for Khan in-house.

Khan vs Pacquiao is still a long way to go, if it will ever happen. So you can forget about it at this point.

Greed and disloyalty in equal proportions. He thinks that MannyP is fading or will be by the time he can get a fight with him and wants to cash in on the opprotunity to be the next MannyP.

he has such an ego that e doean';t have any idea what the fans actually think of him. He still thinks that he's the shining Olympic star. Oscar is the wrong promoter for him.

Well... I thought they had stopped training together so much due to them possibly fighting each other some day.

Anyway, I wouldn't read too much into it as far as a "pay day" goes. He could just fight stiffs in the UK forever and make some good money if he wanted.

Khan also said on a ringside interview that he hopes 2 fight floyd after a warm 147 fight, he then went on 2 say him and manny don't spar together anymore cause they might fight in the future.

Don't worry Khan will be out on his Twitter page to say it's all a miss-understanding and that he never mentioned fighting Manny Pacquiao as they're really good friends....

In all honesty though, why not fight the dude. **** the friends stuff. You can be friends before training and fighting and then after the fight.

Khan defo needs a fight or two at 147 though before stepping in with either Floyd or Manny.

Fight the likes of Ortiz, Devon, hell even get the fight with Bradley after the Bradley-Pac fight.

I've been hearing that Amir has been getting the better of him in sparring, probably why he wants the fight.

khan will give him a good fight but theres a difference in getting hit in a real fight by manny and if khan covers up like he did against peterson then manny would annihilate him great fight for boxing tho
