Three Serious Questions for Roy Jones...

Was the Tarver punch in the second round a fluke?

I personally, don't feel he was gunning for one punch to hit Jones in the second fight, because Jones even at his age and with his eroded reflexes was still hard to hit cleanly. And to go for one punch when at the time no one knew about Jone's chin was a very risky strategy because Tarver could have waited the whole fight to land one bomb just to find out Jones can take the punch well.

If he fought Tarver earlier in his career, do you think the outcome would have been different the first fight? Do you think this trilogy happened because Roy's age and eroding reflexes/physical attributes made the two fighters more evenly matched?

I truly can't even guess to be honest, partially because Jones has faced little adversity in his career. And I know that Tarver is very sure of himself, maybe that extra confidence in himself made Tarver feel invincible.... who knows. I just believe most of the fighters Jones fought surely didn't have nearly as much confidence in themselves stepping into the ring with Jones.

Tarver also had experience with Jones as amateurs. Maybe he saw "weak spot" in Jones' fighting then...

Does Roy Jones Jr have "heart"?

This is one of those questions that we can't answer, but we can think about. I truly believe Roy was SO talented throughtout his career. He put so much into relying on his natural gifts. So, as these physical gifts were less and less "gifts" for him as he grew older, a Tarver "upset" was just waiting to happen?

A prime Roy Jones would have never lost a round to Tarver, it would not have been close.

As for Roy's heart? I dont know, in the ring he never really showed a lot of heart and for that matter never had a ton of opportunities to show it.

I have always thought that even though Roy was the most dominant fighter of my time he would have had trouble with a skilled fighter that simply went after him.

Gerald McClellan would have gone after him and made him show heart to win, if you question Roys heart then I dont know how you would pick him against the G-man.

Yeah, I don't want to sound like a Roy hater, but I just think there are too many asterisks concerning his career. We just dont know how well he would have done against someone extremely talented during his prime. Maybe not extremely talented, but you know what I mean.

I dont remember a deal with you, but I will donate 10 mil cause Im a big time player like that.

Also, people are neglecting the fact that Tarver is Jones' age...

I don't buy that less experience = less physical abuse, especially when Roy was NEVER in a war. I do believe however that Jones had an advantage with all the experience he had over Tarver.

Roy fought some talented fighters...James Toney and BErnard Hopkins two name a couple.

However both guys dont have the style to trouble a prime Roy Jones, neither Toney or Hopkins could have ever beaten Roy in his prime-styles make fights.

Gerald McClellan on the other hand had the style to give Roy hell, we would have had to see a huge heart from Roy if he were to best the G-man.

Theres no way to win an argument online. VERY RARLEY does someone admit they are wrong. So for me to say all the reasons what your saying about Jones are false, would be a waste of time an effort. And bloodshed, its all good.

I feel like I have defended my point enough on this topic in the past. But I will do it again. Its the same stuff, you say he has never been in a tough fight. Well he has I have seen Roy in tough fights. How about Jones vs. Tarver I? How about his fight with Mccallum? You say he has no heart. But he did show heart in the Tarver fight. And Tarver is the same age, but Roy had to lose alot of weight after the Ruiz fight and he has been boxing like 15 years. According to boxing fans no one was great. And there "asterisks" galore with every fighters career. It gets a little annoying at times. No offense...
