Comments Thread For: Froch Admits He May Have Retired if Bute Defeated Him

Carl Froch delivered a performance of devastating brutality to snatch Lucian Bute's IBF super-middleweight title before revealing he had considered retiring after losing his previous fight.

The popular Nottingham 34-year-old was regarded as the underdog heading into the contest with unbeaten Romanian Bute, who was making a rare foray outside of his Canadian stronghold

Bute would have won if Froch didn't hit him.

Froch said pre-fight he had a 4 fight plan for retirement:

      Bute I
      Bute II
      Kessler II
      Ward II

I guess he goes straight to Kessler now

If Froch is having 3 more fights, I'd like to see:

            - Kessler II (In Nottingham because the first fight was in Denmark, and I think it was a draw so Kessler got a bit lucky).

            - Winner of Cloud/Pascal at 175.

            - Winner of Ward/Dawson at 175.

Any more fights after that would be a bonus, but I hope he retires before he starts slipping and is out of his prime. After that performance last night, nobody can say that he's past it. That was arguably the best performance of his career.

I wouldn't mind him fighting Erdei or Stieglitz either, but would prefer the above.

Maybe some great domestic fights with Groves, DeGale, Cleverley in the future too if he decides to stay in the sport longer.

Froch needs to fight Cloud at some point before he retires. That would be a jizz-sprayingly awesome fight.
