Comments Thread For: Lucian Bute vs. Carl Froch: The Pre-Fight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - His talent is evident to most. What lingers for IBF Super Middleweight titlist Lucian Bute are questions about what happens when faced the top of his class. He began to answer those questions last year with a dominant decision over rugged veteran Glen Johnson but it wasn’t enough to force a showdown with World Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward.

He could have bided his time and kept racking up knockouts. Instead, away from the safe confines of Montreal, Bute hits the road for the toughest test of his career.

Across the ring, he’ll find one of the most seasoned battlers in the game. Over seven straight fights, Carl Froch has faced Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell, Mikkel Kessler, Arthur Abraham, Johnson, and Andre Ward at a mark of 5-2. Most men would take a paycheck contest as homecoming reward.

Froch instead has elected to make it eight in a row, beast-style. Will he wish he’d taken a long vacation instead? [Click Here To Read More]

How can Bute have an A for Intangibles? He's not been properly tested yet, and folded against Andrade in their first bout.

never seen a slower fighter than carl froch... but he's still great value....

pascal v. froch one of the best fights in recent years, for pure action and neither fighter backing down and just throwing bombs....

i think froch will get to bute late.... like andrade, but don't expect a snooze fest like ward froch.

            That's a ridiculous statement.

Bute is too sneaky, too sharp with his shots for Froch to win this fight.

I have written off Froch before and I was wrong, but I just can't picture him getting the better of Bute.

I'd take bets of worthless BS points.

Obviously he's been tested; but he's definitely not a Grade A for Intangibles. There's an element of doubt following Andrade I. I reckon he's a B.

I believe Bute will answer a lot of the remaining questions tonight
