Could Foreman have beaten Ali in a rematch?

I am not taking away from what Ali did to Foreman that night in Zaire...but Foreman fought a very ****** fight. He just kept wailing away with no technique until he tired himself out. Too bad a rematch never happened. If Foreman got a different trainer for the rematch and learned how to counter punch and set up his shots, there is a good chance he could have beaten Ali.

...I agree, and to this day I can't believe how ****ty, slow, reckless, and unskilled Foreman looked in that fight.

        dont think so
look at georges next fight against ron lyle
it was one of the sloppiest, worst fights ive seen, george was down twice (at least) in five rounds. Foreman, like tyson, had lost his edge over his opponents. foreman was never the fighter he used to be after the ali fight

Anybody who thinks Foreman couldn't have KO'd Ali in a rematch is delusional. Foreman gave up in the Rumble. He could've gotten up, but he was tired, shocked, and all around didn't care. He was angry and very spiteful. In the rematch he simply wouldn't fall for the same trick... then what would Ali have done against when of the hardest hitters in the HW division ever? Get knocked out, that's what.

** Looks like you never saw Ali's next fight against Chuck Wepner. That may have been more pitiful than the first Spinks bout. At least George had the excuse of over a year's worth of rust against a powerful contender who outboxed Ali.

Wepner was supposed to be a bleeding punching bag. Instead he teed off on Ali all night, mugged him and knocked him down and had Ali whining to the ref. Just pitiful. Ali finally pulled the fight out, but Wepner was winning the fight bigtime.

get the hell out of here. i was watching the fight, and wepner looked so sloppy and foolish against ali that a 33year old 222lb. past his prime ali looked like he was 25 and 212 in his prime. ali was dancing and slipping punches like how he did in the 60s and constantly hit him with left jabs all night and cut both his eyes. one of the most lopsided fights of ali's career. he got knocked down cause he was off-balance and he was toying with wepner. that ko in the 15th round was pure sweetness! a very bad post on your part.

ya so ali had a bad fight, but his next fight he took care of ron lyle, the mad who almost ko'd foreman twice.
foreman was never the same again, ali would win again the same way
