Hopkins got beat by the first guy he fought that could match him for weight, was hungry and had skills. So he beat Trinidad - the guy was naturally much lighter. De La Hoya? He started out at Super Middle. I'm not saying Hopkins wasnt any good but he definitely cant get rated alongside Monzon, Robinson, Hagler and friends.

20 title defenses is pretty impressive and the 40 yr old man put up two respectable fights against Taylor.....What more do you want?

I wouldnt rank him up there with Hagler but just the point that he had so many title defenses says alot plus come on 40yrs old, and those fights were close could of gone either way.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's not any good - the guy beat good guys like Howard Eastman, Robbie Allen, Antwun Echols etc as well as obviously De La Hoya and Trinidad, I'm just saying he doesnt deserve to be up there with the greats, which is a shame. Let's hope Taylor does it
