  • Comments Thread For: Mercito Gesta To Return on July 20th ESPN FNF Card

It was no secret that undefeated lightweight contender Mercito Gesta (25-0, 13KOs) and his team had been angling for a July 14th showdown at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas with Juan Manuel Marquez, but with the Mexico City stalwart not opting to push forward with that date, plans have obviously changed.

Good..... now we can see him get KO'd on FNF.
Besides, this is a lot better than rushing him onto a PPV

Marquez Wants To Jack Around With A No-Name, ESPN Fighter! How About Morales!!!

Stupid. Marquez mis-managed. Sell out Texas Stadium the end of July against Erik Morales, and make more history!!! Forget this "needing a lefty to prepare for Pacquiao IV", you haven't been promised. Rather than fighting an ESPN fighter, go fight Erik Morales you've ducked your entire career! It makes NO SENSE why you both fought Pacquiao and Barrera multiple times in their primes, but don't have the nerve to fight Erik Morales, who would sign in a heartbeat to wage war with Marquez finally!!!! Marquez can't beat Pacquiao and is afraid he can't beat Morales either!!!

Better route for Gesta, too early to be stepping in with Marquez, who Marquez clearly wanted cause he knows he will win with his experience. Marquez needs to forget about Pacquiao and accept his defeats, stop ducking Morales and give his fight fans fights they want to see! Instead of fighting these no name tomato cans who he knows he can clearly beat. Marquezs career is coming to an end and should be fighting the best available opponents out there, but then again he has been hand picking his opponents for awhile now to save his strength to fight Pacquiao and using Pacquiaos name for a payday.

marquez ducked morales before? marquez is the one who never got the chance despite being ranked back when he was a featherweight, neither hamed or morales would fight him,i believe he was number one ranked for almost two years and amed wouldnt fight him

Great move for Gesta. He goes from almost taking a sure loss to Marquez if that fight materializes, and remaining in relative obscurity thanks to it being on PPV, to now being a showcase fighter on a network broadcast. This is much better for his career than what the slimmest chances of an upset he had if the Marquez bout came to fruition.

He will literally get no good fights though. I can see them trying to hook him up with Morales to boost his crappy resume. I mean... I'll be disappointed if he gets a title shot... cuz he probably will in the future for a vacant belt
