Johnson won at most one round more against Dawson than vs Froch, when younger and at his optimal weight. It seemed closer cause he was coming on strong late, while fading against Froch. But what would you expect when having to drop 7lbs at 40.
    We simply disagree.

That's one of Dawson's best attribute! Dawson is physically a strong dude. How has ward be lighting the world on fire. He's fights are just as boring. Ward dominated Kessler just like Dawson dominated tarver twice. It was a rematch clause in the tarver Dawson fight because tarver was the champion. I bring this up because what makes Kessler a star and whom did he beat? He couldn't even beat the top guy calzaghe when Kessler was in his so called prime! Calzaghe was the same age when RJJ was dethroned by tarver. I don't want hear tarver is washed up. He just won a cruiser weight crown, and about to fight a top young lion lateef kayode, and if he beats him that makes dawson win look awesome just like adamek. Johnson gave cloud a tough fight and dropped down in weight to knock D level apponent Green and give Foch a tough fight. So Dawson is very deceptive, but I see why you guys give ward the edge. They are fighting most likely inOakland or in the Cali area, and Dawson is fighting at wards weight. So ward should have the edge. Also ward didn't jump to fight Dawson because of what you guys are saying. He could of fought Bute this weekend but he insisted on bute fight a live guy, which I agree. He didn't want to fight the younger Dirrell brother. That's why he was stripped of his belt. This the only fight out their for $$$
I wouldn't describe Dawson as a "physical" fighter. I agree he has good strength but I don't consider using that strength as the skillset he utilzes in imposing his will. He had an injury & was not stripped he was placed in recess (whatever that means) But his status is at full for this fight. Also, I think he could've waived this matchup for other considerations. Payday is another word I would associate w/ chad. He's a good solid champiion. But I personally consider him an underachiever...& really mainly for all the reasons you r endorsing him. I truly feel there should be no debate ass it comes to a man w/ his size, speed, strength & ability...none at all. & Tarver is Garbage by the way. straight waste management.

Fair enough, but I gotta disagree with you again on Tarver. He's far from garbage, he'd school most of the top 10 at lhw and smw if he could still make 175. He'd take apart 3 of the 4 beltholders at 175, Cloud very much included.

Great fight but I think Dawson may be too big for Ward, and it kind of ruins the Bute fight, not that the fraud Bute would've won but still

Bro...Cloud is Garbo...even moreso. U saw campillo...u saw GJ...I mean that dude is 175's version of kirkland. I just don't think the landscape at 75 is much to admire. All good tho. I've never been a fan of Tarver. I think his lips run better than his *********. Tarver is tryna do a cash grab...that's itHe want a klitchko fight after this. I don't even know who kayode is.

Do you really think Dawson is so inept not to be able to adjust to a man simply moving in one direction. Did you see the post fight presser? Did you see the interviews after. I sat behind a group of like 8 guys & a coupplefrom Ct rooting for chad They were all quiet & frustrated bc they couldn't understand why Chad wasn't punching...why he couldn't connect & keep connecting. It was a fun fight to be at..But When u watch wut bernard did & place it in to proper perspective...It was amazing. Bernard doesn't have a one hitter quitter. That dude had to use technique..His legs & craft tocontrol pace & tempo against a bigger faster man in his prime coming for his belt. All at 47. I was amazed.
Dawson couldn't connect that much because Hopkins used footwork to force Chad to use his left hand. Dawson is not a real two handed boxer, Dawson is a right-handed southpaw and he sets everything up from his right-hand. Hopkins was OPEN to the left-cross and counter-left cross the whole night. Hopkins knew if he put himself in a position to make Dawson use his left, he would not be as effective. If Dawson was actually a natural lefty he would have landed more punches on Bernard. None the less I had Dawson winning 6-3-3. Look it Dawson's stance he looks like he's about to throw the left-cross but he doesn't. Everyone knows that a boxer who doesn't fight off his natural stance can easily get off-balanced. It's not really genius what Hopkins did, he just exploited the obvious against a converted southpaw, and still lost because Dawson is that good.

Hopkins is not a 47 year old washed up boxer, he probably would beat Ward or Bute or make it a close fight. Another thing it's not to say Dawson can't be effective with his left because when he was with Floyd Sr or Eddie Muhammad he would used his left hand with regularity (He beat Adamek with the right jab and striaght left). Scully is not a bad trainer, but he didn't have a full evaluation of Dawson and his weakness, and he was preparing him against one of the craftiest fighters in boxing. This is what happens when you are constantly switching trainers. Had Dawson stayed with Steward, he probably would have a fought better fight. Also it helps that Steward emphasizes on a strong cross punch. Dawson still has weakness that Scully need to work on.

But if you think Ward can just simply emulate what Hopkins did and expect him to win because of that, you are sadly mistaken.
