I don't get why the Vargas fight is so controversial. I was rooting for Lopez and gave him every benefit of the doubt, but I didn't see him win. I remember Vargas took the fight in the last few rounds because Lopez got lazy while Vargas was working his ass off.

Prescott, Lara, and even Vanes are all better opponents than Lopez. He is not the best available.

**** Vanes, he calls people out and then ducks when they respond. He'd murk Prescott at WW. He'd need a full camp of preparing specifically for Lara to be ready for that fight. That's a fight he could easily lose and he'd need to be prepared for it. I'm a little dissapointed in the opponent too, but with about one month to fight night, I didn't expect much better.

It was close but robbery? I dont think so. Beside Lopez hasnt fought since that fight. I understand why GBP would throw him in. Cheaper for them. Lopez will probably make less than 50 grand and its on Showtime. HBO would never approve Lopez against somebody like Ortiz.

This is probably the best fight to make with this short of notice. Lopez was already training to fight Holt anyways. Its the right move and Vargas probably would want more money, but I could care less about watching Vargas after his last performance. He gets another great opportunity to be on a big ppv and put on a awful performance. Although it would be fun to see Ortiz ko him.

Lopez looks more durable than Vargas. That'll help vs Ortiz. But expect Ortiz will win by mid-rounds KO. Lets say 8th Rd. Vargas doesn't make it out the 4th IMO.
