Comments Thread For: Lopez’ Trainer on Victor Ortiz: 'Josesito’s Coming to Win!'

Trainer Henry Ramirez is on the cusp of a very busy June 23, as Riverside Lincoln Gym charges Josesito Lopez and Chris Arreola are close to appearing on a likely reconstructed card at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

After former welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KOs) tested positive for a banned substance, his scheduled matchup with fellow former 147-pound titleholder Victor Ortiz (29-3-2, 22 KOs) would be conceivably shelved for one between Ortiz and Lopez (29-4, 17 KOs). Arreola would appear on the undercard against an opponent to be determined. BoxingScene.com first reported on Sunday afternoon that Lopez was the likely replacement for Berto, with Arreola receiving an undercard nod.

Josesito Lopez???? Why not put Jessie Vargas in there? Hes had 2 fights at 147. At least we will know now if he can really fight or not.

I guess I don't understand why Vargas is more preferable when Lopez already beat him but was robbed of the decision?

I don't get why the Vargas fight is so controversial. I was rooting for Lopez and gave him every benefit of the doubt, but I didn't see him win. I remember Vargas took the fight in the last few rounds because Lopez got lazy while Vargas was working his ass off.

Prescott, Lara, and even Vanes are all better opponents than Lopez. He is not the best available.

It was close but robbery? I dont think so. Beside Lopez hasnt fought since that fight. I understand why GBP would throw him in. Cheaper for them. Lopez will probably make less than 50 grand and its on Showtime. HBO would never approve Lopez against somebody like Ortiz.

If the recent findings about Berto's test are true, I see no reason why he and Ortiz shouldn't proceed with the rematch as planned.

Just watched Lopez vs. Vargas again, man that fight was a war, could have gone either way. Lopez is a tall 140 pounder at 5'10 I think he will bring even more energy and pressure up at 147. It's gonna be a fun fight to watch.

Berto and Peterson should fight the 'Battle of The Banned'.

Lopez vs Mike Dallas Jr rematch in San Jancito, CA would be a good fight. Their previous fight was dirty and not a clear win for Lopez. Ortiz vs. Lopez would be an easy paycheck for both.
