the older guys used to fight more, a lot more, but they also used to get ****ed up more by the end of their careers...still this fighting once a year **** is taking it way too far, no wonder these guys have ring rust when they get in there again, when it's been a ****ing year since his last fight. how can u call yourself a champion if u defend your title ONCE every year? a champion should be fighting once every 3 months, like brewster does, and against quality opponents ( also like brewster does ) but i guess fighting a tomato can is better than nothingComment

OK, lets compare him to some current fighters.Originally posted by Mech.Secondly obviously boxing has changed a lot,how can you compare Jermain to the Careers of fighters past, when boxing isnt the same as it was then.
Morales
Castillo
Corrales
Pacquiao
All those guys consistently fight the best, and have not taken a fight off for a while.Comment

All of these guys have had their token fights.
Maybe Jermain Taylor should just listen to you guys and fight...
Nard twice
Winky Wright
Jeff Lacy
Antonio Tarver
Tuneup against Glenn Johnson (shame on Jermain)
James Toney
Back to back to back to back etc.Comment

scap you CANT ofend me. I fought in front of 14000 live and more than 10 million on TV... whil eyou are here posting in fron of 12 or 15... I fought a tough schedule for what's its worth but in any event.... if YOU want to pay to watch a fight that the guys promoter ADMITS wil be a by-design-easy-fight then thats on you... but tell that to the contenders out there that are forced to wait while he does it. Boxing is not like it used to be... and THIS IS PART OF THE REASON WHYComment

ICE good thing I cant be offended either...you never ansered my question and Im not a poster who is gonna treat you with kid gloves simply because you were a world class fighter.
I ask for your opinion in regards to the effect that a superfight may have on a fighter and you choose to throw a jab at me?
Let me pose my question again...
What effects if any would two SUPERFIGHTS back to back have on a fighter? Would they or would they not be more emotionally draining then a regular fight if there is such a thing as a regular fight.
Im looking for real answers to real questions! Oh for the record when I made the post above there were 24 people on the site not the 12 or 15 you suggested.
Again I loook forward to your answer.Comment

For the record in no way was I knocking your record or resume, all I said was that you had never participated in an event like the 1 last Saturday.
Was I wrong?Comment

Well... put it this way... the world is alot bigger than the USA, u know? My fight with Henry Maske was much bigger in europe that Hops-Taylor was here on saturday..Much bigger, so an event of that magnitude? DEFINITELY. And YES big fights are draining but that is the POINT, man. This is professional boxing, the best man is the champion and part of being the best is being able to withstand the schedule of a world's CHAMPION. The way it SHOULD BE (forget what promoters and TV tell you) is that the WORLD CHAMPION keeps defening his world title against the very best available fighters on the planet until he loses. PERIOD.Comment

There ya see that is all I wanted was an answer and I appreciate it!
Maske vs. Scully...Im sure there was a huge foreign audience but do you think you are letting your pride get in the way if your are some how trying to say that fight between yourself and Henry Maske was the the same as Hopkins and Taylor?
Sven Ottke was absolutely huge in Germany but if I was talking to Byron Mitchell and he was trying to say his fight with Ottke was bigger then Hopkins v. Taylor I just wouldnt buy it, same goes with the bout with Maske.
I dotn care if 3 poeple in a parking lot watched Hopkins vs. Taylor it was still bigger and deep down you know exactly what Im talking about.
Now for my second question...which champion in recent memory never fought any tomato cans in between big time title defenses?Comment
