  • Allen "NO CHIN" Green is DONE

After watching Green on Boxing 360, it was clear that his training and confidence wasn't at Championship level. Against Kessler he started out gun-shy right from the bat even after hurting Kessler badly. At the end of the first round you can Kessler get Green's attention with a good but not devastating shot. The second round Green did nothing to capitalize from hurting Kessler. He had no head movement and no body punches. Kessler is a tall fighter with peg legs, he doesn't have a strong base like Froch. He should have taken the fight early inside making it a dog fight. Instead he fought timid trying to establish a jab against a tall fighter continuing to get touched. The rest of the fight it was clear that Green had respect for Kessler's power and really did nothing other than try to get lucky...again no strategic confidence. Was it Green, his corner, or both? On the KO, if you look closely, the threw a lead left hook while not blocking with his right. Not to mention, he threw it a split second after Kessler threw his punch; result bad KO.

Where does he go from here? Well, if he continues...ESPN. While Kessler puts himself in position for a good fight against top opposition.

What do you want to see?

Kessler vs. Bute (I say Bute wins)
Kessler vs. Froch (I say Froch wins)
Kessler vs. Ward (I say Ward wins)
Kessler vs. Bad Chad (interesting fight)
Kessler vs. Danny Green (interesting fight)
Kessler vs. Tarver (Tarver easy late KO)
Kessler vs. Jean Pascal (interesting fight, but possible Pascal KO or Kessler Decision)
Kessler vs. Kelly Pavlik (Great fight)
Kessler vs. Dirrell (After motorcycle accident who knows)

Let's face it...Green will never be at the championship level and never ever been a top fighter. He talks a good game but he can't deliver. Every time he steps up and fight a good fighter he looks straight up scared and when Green gets hit hard he becomes paranoid and refuses to let his hands go...just jab jab jab jab and move backwards and hope to simply survive the 12 rounds. I don't know what's wrong with him but It must be a mental thing.

For the sake of his health, Green should take a long vacation. It would probably be best healthwise to Call it a day. A ko like that cannot be healthy and it is difficult to see Green coming back to top level (if he ever was that is).

As for Kessler's future I hope he Can lure Ward to Denmark, but that is highly unlikely although it would be fair. Scheduling is a problem though. Its difficult to see a Big fight in the fall unless Bute vs. Froch has a decisive winner.

Green did drop Kessler too and had him doing something which looked like a failed attempt at a breakdancing move in the first round (the windmill?). But I don't know if Green is done, it's probably too soon for me to tell just from that performance. It was a pretty even fight until the KO and in boxing anyone can get KOd at any time. Green made a mistake, left himself wide open and Kessler was good enough to capitalize on it very quickly.

With a different trainer Green might be able to correct his mistakes and still have a decent run in the sport.

Kessler can get a shot at Cleverly's WBA belt, that's a fight he can win and would set up bigger fights down the line. Green was never a world class fighter he should call it quits.

Based on what I saw tonight i'd be fairly confident picking Cleverly to outwork Kessler, Clev has a solid beard he got cracked several times by Bellew who despite lacking in boxing ability has a thunderous right hand.

Kessler would be at a big size disadvantage, and without his jab which seems to have dissapeared would just get outworked by the younger man.

I'd Prefer to see him against Pavlik or maybe Pascal

i dont think green will stop fighting. he probably hasnt made the kind of money where he could retire and live a luxurious lifestyle for the rest of his life. but if he piles up a few more decent paydays and perhaps gets another big one he would be set, hard to walk away from that after coming this far.

at the end of the day this is his job, regardless of the fact that he will never be a world champ im sure he wants to live like one. thats within grasp but in order to do it he has to grab whatever money is out there before he calls it a day.

Kessler did show some ring rust last night but that's mainly from inactivity and injuries. Nathan's never steped in the ring with an elite fighter and taking shots from a Euro level fighter at best in Bellew doesn't mean he'll be able to **** with someone like Kessler.

I hope he can prove me wrong but I just don't see Nathan being at world level for long.
