Being a 200 lb amateur doesn't actually mean you're fighting at 200. There's time to put weight on after the weigh in. If he fought in mid 240s consistently, I wouldn't complain.
I know that, but he didn't need to start weighing in anywhere from 240-260. He could have put on 10-20 lbs, weigh in around 215-220, and hydrate from that weight if he was dedicated. Even when he was coming up in his early pro fights, he'd gotten fat.
