When certain boxers get paid to lose !

    NOT, lol.

I've been hearing this particular statement from boxing fans. Usually, PAC haters. Don't get me wrong, I'm a PBF fan first, but, something got me thinking today. We never hear fans accuse PBF opponents getting paid to lose to him.

Hmm, I think the reason for such baseless acussations is because many to this day still underestimate PAC's abilities.

I think it's a ridiculous notion that somehow Clottey, Mosley and now Bradley are supposedly hired Top Rank fighters just there to make PAC look great.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Imagine yourselves in Clottey's, Mosley's and Bradley's shoes, whether it's your first biggest payday, or making the most of what's left of your career. I think the opportunity to beat arguably the best fighter in the world far outweighs what a promotional company can give you on some type of "back alley" deal.

I highly doubt it's as big as the fight purse guarantees and obviously nowhere near the type of payday they would receive if they beat the P4P best.

    What do y'all think ?

I've never bought into it, but Clottey performed in a way where you would think he got paid to lose and casuals don't know any better. Mosley simply could not pull the trigger. The notion that a fighter was paid to lose is ****** as they have a lot more to gain winning, more fortune, much bigger things to come.

Except didn't James Toney try to throw a fight midway through?

I think it's ****** as hell. When they don't like the results then the judges were paid off or the opponent was paided off. First, Arum makes plenty of money without fixing fights. He could lose his licence if he got caught. Then he would make no money. It would not be worth the risk. The boxers are not going to lose on purpose and hurt their career. The Mosley fight and the Clottey fight were dull fights that hurt Pacquiao's reputation and drawing power. Why would Arum pay them to fight like that? It would take millions to gets these fighters to lose on purpose and they might have to much pride to do it for any amount. If Arum is going to pay these boxers a ton of money to lose then of course he is going have them lose in a way that makes Pacquiao look great. A thrilling fight ending in a crushing KO for Pacquiao, not the dull fights put on by Clottey and Mosley. In the minds of the Pac haters he can't win the Bradley fight. If he wins it was fixed and if he loses, well he was never any good anyway.
