No, Mares doesn't deserve the blame. I'm pretty sure Mares would fight him.

It's Golden Boy who doesn't want to make that fight. They see Mares as a potential ticket seller, not sure if they see that in Moreno. They both are promoted by Golden Boy. If Golden Boy wants to make it they could have fought last month or next. But, Golden Boy doesn't want to make it...Not now at least. Lets see if they make it before the 4 fight deal is done with Moreno.

Yeah, you're right. Not too pissed if Mares-Moreno itself doesn't happen though, just so long as everyone at 118-122 fights relevant, high-class people.

On a side note, I don't see any of the big fights at 122 being crackers without Mares or Nishioka. I can see Donaire-Rigo (in particular), Donaire-Moreno and Rigo-Moreno being snoozefests. But add Mares or Nishioka to any one of those 3 (or to each other) and the styles fuse, and you suddenly have a potential FOTY candidate.

I can see why GoldenBoy is trying to let Moreno-Mares marinate....but if it happens, i'd like to see it happen once they both move up to 122. That would be a really busy division.

Agbeko/Moreno is still a really good fight though
