This situation reminds me about how Michael Jordan handled issues such as these. At the height of both his athletic prowess and popularity, many people believed Jordan not only could do a lot in terms of promoting both racial and political issues, he also had a responsibility to do so. Yet every time this was brought up to him he politely declined and said he preferred to keep his opinions on such matters private and said his job was to be the best basketball player that he could.

Again, although this irritated some people, I thought it was brilliant as venturing outside of the realm of what made you famous in the first place can get you into an area of trouble that you didn’t expect and will regret. And while some athletes actually thrive off of controversy, Pacquiao never struck me as being one of them.

thats true. mike really got on my nerves by avoiding the issues of race and responsibility. in retrospect it was a shrewd move that allowed him to continue to make mega amts of money. IMO he still avoided issues he could have had a positive impact on. good post though.

This I never understood myself. If you have a fiancee, why would you care or even bother with an ex. Actually after the incident with his ex, he then imidiately proposed to Miss Jackson which almost sounds like he did it just to try and hurt his ex. I feel Miss Jackson's relationship with Floyd is a bit fake to me.
