Is Arum Responsible For Making Mayweather, Dela Hoya and Pacquiao Stars?

Mayweather wasn't a draw until he left Arum in the dust.
Had he stayed with Arum, Floyd would not be anywhere near the star that he is. Only by leaving Arum and doing his own thing did Mayweather become the biggest draw in the sport.

Delahoya was a star before he even turned pro. Arum helped all three by getting them fights of course, but to become a star, you have to capture the imagination of the masses.
Floyd is a brilliant self promoter and one of the most naturally gifted fighters the sport has ever seen. He can play the villain very well. In fact he can play any role he wants, he is quite complex. Manny is a fireball in the ring, exciting and has an incredible story behind him. The masses eat that stuff up also.
With all my rambling above, what I am basically saying is that Arum paved the way for them, but to become "STARS", they had to do that themselves.

I remember Arum had De La Hoya and promos for his fights on massive billboards in Times Square and got Oscar appearances on shows such as Letterman. Guy knows how to promote a superstar. What he's done with Pac in a few short years, now that Pac has more PPV sales than Oscar had at the same age is simply incredible.
However he could never promote Floyd to his maximum potential, as he was able to do DLH and Pacquiao. Then again Floyd was playing up alot outside the ring, always conflicting with Arum and never fit the good guy image that DLH and Pac easily did.
I wouldn't totally blame Arum for that, they just were not a good fit. For Mayweather to become so massive he had to beat DLH and come up with such an awful arrogant and trash-talking persona, total antithesis to the type Arum was used to, which the then new 24/7 concept helped push out to the world.

But I've been thinking, that Mayweather and Dela Hoya should be thanking this guy for making them stars. I don't think there's another promoter that have the kind of abilities and resources to take someone like these two and Pacquiao and make them the big stars that they are now.
If Mayweather and Dela Hoya were with Gary Shaw or DiBella, do you think they would have made it this big? The same for Pacquiao, he was under Gary Shaw and Murad, but he didn't make it big until he was with Arum.
What's your take on this?
Floyd became a star when he left TR.
Manny was a huge name when he was with Murad Muhammad. But TR took him to the next level.
SO TR deserves credit for all 3.

[QUOTE=lacson;12124450]Again it was Arum that got them those fights.
Their promotion is also always a big time event. If it was Shaw or DiBella they would have had those fights in some indian casino in some small time place somewhere. I don't think they're capable of the same kind of promotions.[/QUO
Arum did not get Floyd the Oscar fight...

Arima helped but their talent is the real reason. It's more of these guys talent made Arum a lot of money.
