Like I said I hope there is a rematch.
He probably threw more but just like pro boxing you have to land those punches. Lomachenko landed more and harder.

It's actually the opposite of what you are trying to imply. It's the American and Cuban schools who tend to focus on throwing lots of pitty pat shots that are meaningless in order to "cheat the amateur system" and get points in spite of the shots being totally ineffective. Now i like Ramirez and he isn't one of those types but alot of American and Cuban amateur boxers do fight that way. Jesse Hart who just turned pro and lost in the 2011 World Championships at MW or the Cuban LHW Cruz who "won" Gold at the same tournament are examples.

In contrast Ukraine's MW Khytrov who won Gold at the World Championships had 3 stoppages in 5 fights. Lomachenko had a KO in one fight and a knockdown on Cuban Toledo in the Final. Berinchyk who won Silver is a little mauling destroyer who battered his opponents like England's Stalker all over the ring.

The American styles IS NOT about throwing pitty pat shots. Never has been. That's one of the things that has hurt us in recent Olympic games, we train our guys more with an eye toward developing good pros. But the amateur system favors getting as many "touches" as possible instead.

It's the same reason why Mexico can dominate the sport in the pro ranks but does awful in the amateurs.

I watch alot of amateur boxing and many of the American fighters employ alot of pot shotting, pitty pat punching and running. Tell yourself whatever you want and by all means try to fool others but it won't work on me.

Too many of your young fighters and coaches strive for the Andre Dirrell style rather than the Saad, Spinks, Hagler, Mccallum school. Your SHW last year Leroy Thompson looked like a Mcdonalds worker trying to imitate Larry Holmes minus the skill, athleticism, speed, coordination, or talent.

Why does Mexico do so poorly in the amateurs then? Surely you're not going to try to bull**** me that they are pitty pat punchers too?

lol Obviously not. Mexicans aren't Americans and they don't have the same school. Hell name me an American in the pros who fights like your typical Mexican? Maybe Kirkland but less skillful especially on defense then most Mexicans? You trying to pass Americans off as blood and guts warriors is funny.

Like i said from LW-SHW the only Finalist at the World Championships who was a pitty pat runner was Cuba's Cruz at LHW.

            Medzhidov vs Joshua
            Usyk vs Mammadov
            Cruz vs Mekhontsev,
            Khytrov vs Murata
            Shelestyuk vs Sapiyev
            Berynchik vs Santos
            Lomachenko vs Toledo

Most of them are outright punchers so if your claims are true how come other countires with pro styles and hard punchers are successful yet Americans aren't? You trying to scapegoat the lack of American success is funny, if somewhat sad, but by all means continue.

Marcus Browne won the AIBA Light Heavyweight Championship yesterday. Beat a Brazilian. I'm pretty excited to see what this crop of talent can do.

You didn't answer the question. Why do Mexicans dominate the pro game yet do so poorly in the amateurs?

I'll tell you why: because they fight to hurt you not to win on points or touches. And the ammys don't give enough credit for effective pressure and body punching.

Like I said, I hope Ramirez gets another crack at Lomachenko. The judges in London won't turn a blind eye to every punch he lands like they did in Azerbaijan.
