But Canelo is a hype job and Cotto is elite. Unless he can't handle a place like Vegas which is the main stage for big fights.Las Vegas
Pro-Mexican
Next Big Thing Fighter
Mexican holiday
Potential for a Mayweather showdown
If I was Cotto, I certainly wouldn't accept that fight under those terms. The kid already thinks he's a rockstar
He can come to NYC and get an ass-whupping in the PR paradeComment

Cotto will never again not fight on PPV unless he has REALLY bad loss or two. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.Comment

I mean if we're going to be honest
Against Mayorga he did like 250K buys. If he were to fight someone like a Rodriguez type, I doubt his team could expect anything quite like that.
His last two fights were PPV but there was something going on. At least with Margs, you had the first fight, the controversy and everything else and against Floyd, well its Floyd.
Even if he fights a Canelo or Martinez, I'd expect PPV, but I don't expect 1M buys and probably not even 600-700K buys that the Margs fight brought. Just from an economic feasibility standpoint, nobody other than Mayweather or Pac can get him that 8M guarantee and whatever the upside of PPV that Mayweather is giving him. So I'm not entirely sure he has the numbers to consistently demand PPVs against what I feel is a dwindling amount of PPV co-stars in the sport.
For Canelo, I'm not sure if the American audiences really give a crap about him yet and I guess we'll find out when he headlines a PPV in Sept. I was already expecting him to speak english by now, in parts.
I'm sure he's going to love that 15+ million he's getting from this past Saturday, but how many times will he really be able to command that? I mean Floyd just earned his highest guarantee and I think he got about 15M in the Oscar fight, so it took him like 5-6 years to double that. Cotto doesn't have 5-6 years left in the game, hell I don't think he has 2-3 (at this kind of level)
I guess we'll seeComment

If ortiz beats berto in dramatic fashion again I could definitely see Cotto vs Ortiz being a PPVComment

MSG has just as much history as Vegas
So if Cotto is A-side and Canelo is B, B can come where A is.
And I don't think Canelo is a hype-job...just fighting decrepit fighters at this point. But I think he's a stud and will do great thingsComment
