    THOUGHTS on HOPKINS/TAYLOR

I think Taylor fought a very smart fight. And the fight could have gone either way. TAylor learned to clinch more and to avoid fighting in the inside when he didnt have to. He learned alot frmo the first fight and didnt use his energy chasing hopkins. Good win for Taylor and I hope he does well in the future..

and to Hopkins he was a GREAt champ and we need to stop seeing threads about him beating nobodies. Come on this guy didnt lose for a decade. Come on, boxing is about consistency and that is what hopkins is. He brings a smart game plan and follows through. The man is 40 years OLD!! when was the last time youve seen a 40 year old this effective. Give hopkins his credit. please do not discredit his accomplishments...

This was really the passing of the torch...I would like to see Taylor take on someone like Quartey or someone then perhaps try to get a fight with winky..if not then go fight winner of lacy/calzaghe..and for B-Hop I say he fight winky in philly or perhaps even tarver in philly for his last and final fight..

Hopkins is a champion and he brought consistency. Look down the p4p lists and how many of those fighters have been consistently in the top 10 for this many years.

Cong**** to taylor backers and B-Hop definitely didnt disapoint me with his performance

on a side note. i think HBO is doing everything they could to promote Taylor as the NEXT superstar in boxing. It gets kind of ridiculous whe nthey are amazed at everything taylor throws. Lampley is a cheerleader was all over taylors nuts. Everytime Hopkins would land a short right he would just ignore it. Roy Jones is the only one that tells it like it is..I liked lampley too but this fight was just getting annoying

Good post, I agree with most of it.

And yes, Lampley doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Merchant isn't a lot better but doesn't swing on anyone's nuts and at least tries to be honest. Roy Jones knows the sport very well and gives us insights that not too many commentators can give us.

well said. I honestly tipped taylor in both fights and won a considerable amount of money on him both times. But for ****'s sake I have already read so much criticism at hopkins- all take it easy on the bloke. I would say he moves good for a 40 year old- it just seems that when someone loses these days that there are ppl out there who can't wait to hang **** on them!!!

i thought it was very slow fight and was very much the same as bhop-taylor 1,taylor taking the early rounds then bhop taking the later rounds
if bhop didnt have lazy rounds in 10 and 11 i beleive hopkins wud of got the belts back
the 1st fight was a bit funny on the scores but this time all 3 judges had the same pionts so i cant see hopkins wanting a rematch for wat seems like hes last fight before retirement

hopkins retirement should be certain....he should show up in the media and start saying he won it....Good things for taylor to come, but messing with wright is dangerous.

Jim Lampley's the best boxing commentator there is.

I think the fight was close, but Hopkins deserved the nod. I'm not pissed about the decision, but pissed about the fight. Hopkins and Taylor robbed us

Am I the only one that enjoyed this tactical fight?

Lampley said the last 6 minutes belonged to TAYLOR.. it was pretty clear that hopkins won the 12th round..

anyway Watched the fight again and came away wit ha different score

                I had it

                Hopkins: Rounds 1,5,7,8,9,10,12
                Taylor: Rounds 2,3,4,6,11

Hopkins 115-113 by CLEAR but close decision
