  • Peterson rehydrated to 147 vs Ortiz but was 155 vs Khan, Roids???

Not gonna lie I've only been closely following the sport for about 3 yrs but I've never seen this before so thought I would bring this up regarding the Peterson steroid allegations. Has anyone ever seen another fighter rehydrate 8 more lbs while staying in the same weight class within a period of 12 months?

On December 2010 Khan, Ortiz, Maidana, and Pete were all 140. Ortiz balloned up to 156 on fight night and moved up to WW only a couple months later. Peterson was the lightest one on fight night only coming in at 147 lbs. Khan and Maidana were both 149 for the main event.

On 12/11. Khan was the same size at 149 but now Peterson pulled an Ortiz and came in at 155. Throughout the fight he made every effort to lay on Khan in hopes of tiring him out.

Ariza later admitted on FightHype that he had greatly underestimated Peterson's size advantage in the first fight and assumed Lamont and Amir were more or less the same size judging from Pete's previous fight night weight. That's why Amir has been sparring with MW and SMW training camp and trying to bulk up.

Does anyone else find this sketchy or is it normal for fighters to fluctuate in fight night weight while in the same weight class?

Interesting find, does anyone know how much he weighed for the Victor Cayo fight which was about 4 months before the Khan fight?

I wouldn't pin it all on that, but it's very possible.

A fighter's weight before he really starts cutting plays a large part in how much weight he can regain. If he had been walking around at 165lbs as was reported then him getting back to 155 wouldn't be out of the question.

What I would need to know there is what his walking around weight was in the fights leading up to Khan. If he wasn't 165lbs before those fights, then how he got to 165 would make me su****ious.

Hmm, that is some serious bulking up from the Ortiz fight to the Khan fight. Especially because he's still in the same weight class.

i wanted that victory to be legit, but now its always going to be tainted. daamn, khan has a good reason to cry now.

it also shows Ariza is clean. it takes one to know one. if Ariza
gave his fighters steroids he wouldnt just say oh he was bigger than
he thought. he would have jumped at it and said that guy is roiding
probably a bit like mayweather. not saying mayweather is roiding now
but he obviously tried it at some point so he knows what it is .
it takes one to know one. maywaether saying others are roiding
because he roided at some point. Ariza doesnt sound like a guy
who has any interest in roiding .
