The fact is that he's just a mediocre fighter. He's had so much hype....but he's chinny, easy to hit, and a bleeder. His skills and power are decent, but he'll never be among the elites the way so many in the game have hoped for him.

Either you have it or you don't. A long road back from the crossroads.

Anyone know why he left Teiken in the first place?

He left Teiken in the first place because he wanted to make it big in the U.S.A. with Freddie Roach. And because he was being offered contracts with Golden Boy and other big stateside promoters. He was handsome and exciting, so they saw $$$, but they all over-estimated his abilities.

He got KFTO before and will do again VS anyone decent.

In fact he reminds me of Vasquez at the end where he was easily cut after his Marquez fights.

linares is never going anywhere in boxing. if he wants to become the B side of a card he'll have a short career. he's not durable. gatekeeper/opponent types are durable.

he's not suited for anything but star type matchmaking. and it's clear the kid will never be a star

                he doesnt take punches well.

whatever "talent" he might show when he's shadowboxing in the gym goes out the window when somebody can :

                A hit him
B hurt him when they hit him.

oh and he looks to cut pretty easily at this stage

i hate saying it, but the kid is a completely lost cause. i doubt goldenboy will even resign the kid.

he's a graceful guy with a body type and the athletic quality of a prototypical pure boxer. don't get hung up on that. he's not at all a great boxer. the violent aspect of the sport is not intuitive for him.

he would have been well served to remain an amateur and rack up gold. he's not a talent befitting the viciousness of the professional ranks.

Sounds like this will benefit him. He should take some significant amount of time off. Seems like he's not durable anymore, too bad because he had everything going for him.

Still not giving up on Linares but he should take a few months away from the sport.
