Comments Thread For: Merchant: De La Hoya Said Canelo Not Ready For Floyd

In winning a unanimous decision in a grueling battle with Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Floyd Mayweather Jr. stayed true to his promise of delivering action and entertainment on all fronts. And while the 118-110 scorecard and the pair of 117-111 tallies in Mayweather’s favor might give the impression of a comfortable night’s work for Floyd, it was anything but the case for the Grand Rapids, Michigan native. De La Hoya and 10 million other people. Maybe in 2017, Floyd will be 40 in 2017

No matter what age a fighter is, once a fighter has a world title & especially if he has over 40 fights, learning time is OVER!! He should be ready to take on ANYONE!! If not then it means he should have that title stripped!! Till this day Canelo has NOT fought a top of the line legitimate opponent in his prime or naturally from his weight class, but has a world title all thanks to his handlers & Sulaiman that easily paved his way to that WBC green belt just like they have done with J.C Chavez jr.. As of now Canelo is just a spoiled hype job!!

You on it, Tomasio. Canelo IS a champion; he should accept challenges from the best in the division or take off that green belt.

its about time Canelo fights some one actually in the top ten, he is holding a major title....Bundrage, Cotto, or Kirkland would be great to see, he has potential...its put up or shut up time now...dude has a bunch of pro fights and if he fights another unranked guy he should be stripped...not fair to Spinks, Angulo, Kirkland and the other guys fighting each other
