everyone knew going in it was gonna be a key punch...people forget you have a plan until you get hit....this is boxing, Cotto just didnt stop throwing it...Mayweather started to counter it with overhand rights and a few pull counters....also him placing his head to the leftside and throwing uppercuts and left hooks to the body got him out of the way of the jab...Cotto fought a helluva a fight but Mayweather had an answer for everything he tried
Once upon a time everybody was arguing with me saying that mayweather was gonna counter his jab all night long, miguel was too slow, etc.
On a side note, im watching the fight again right now, and damn, fight is damn close, closer than when i first watched it. Many close rounds that could have gone either way and it wouldnt be unreasonable.
As expected. Cotto out jabbed a jabber in Shane, and this was when Shane still knew his existed...even if he was past his. But, Floyd by choosing to fight Cotto's fight kind of gave Cotto less opportunity to use it...doesn't help that Cotto had nothing when Floyd decided to fight at a distance...
I think fighting Floyd is one of those things where hindsight is 20/20 for fighters. Because they ARE touching him, I wonder if they feel they're doing better than they really are.
Cotto has always had a great jab, but people who aren't "real boxing fans" think the left hook to the body was his end all be all punch.
