15 title defenses is no small feat. And a win over Juan Manuel Marquez. He's a good fighter with almost no exposure outside of Asia.

The number of title defenses is meaningless when you don't have to fight mandatories so you can pile up bum defenses. John isn't the only "champion" who has piled up a host of cupcake title defenses. Pong holds the record at 112 and a huge percentage of them were terrible defenses. John has had very few meaningful fights since fighting Marquez six years ago
