Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr. Says Mayweather Doesn't Need Pacquiao

In the midst of the madness that was the Floyd Mayweather-Miguel Cotto weigh-in at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, I crossed paths with living legend Roy Jones Jr.

Having been ringside for countless super fights during his tenure as a ringside commentator for HBO, Jones has broken down many a fight and offered up his thoughts on whether or not Cotto, the sport’s reigning WBA junior middleweight champion, can be successful against the undefeated Mayweather. Manny made JMM wait 4 years 2x before getting in the ring with him. Hes gonna wait until Floyds on his death bed.

Pac dont need Floyd. Floyd needs Pacs badly as he rarely fights and is playing catch up with Pac.

On the other hand JMM dont need Pac, he has proved what he can do against Pac, even if losing 3 times. Floyd has yet to prove he can do what JMM did. JMM gets all the credit, floyd gets none.
Floyd dont get credit for what JMM did with Pac, it dont work like that.

Roy is right. Pacman was given a sound boxing lesson from a smaller, weaker, slower Marquez. It makes no sense for Floyd to waste his time with a fighter that can't beat a bloated 40 year old lightweight.

Floyd's legacy would be sealed win or lose against the only legit threat Sergio Martinez. But Floyd will probably settle for Canelo & his fans will adore the move & hype Canelo to the moon.

                .
Didnt you read my post, so i'll say it again for those who didnt listen. FLoyd needs Pac real bad, he needs to beat the man who was proclaimed FOTD it will look great on his resume.

It makes no sense for Pac to fight Floyd who lost to Castillo, who is one of the more inferior mexican fighters of recent times, behind the likes of Morales and Barrera, also who could only beat Hatton with referee help and still needed 10 rounds. Even though it makes no sense in a way for Pac to fight Floyd he wants to as the fans demand it and it will make a lot of money.

                    Based on your reasoning.

Then it makes no sense for Floyd to fight Pac who already lost to JMM, who didnt win a single round against Floyd.
