Andre probably even a weaker puncher than Bhop.

Ward is similar to Hopkins. But he's not Bhop. No one is. Bhop had fought 8 previous fights at LHW vs LHW's minus Pavlik. Ward has never fought at LHW.

I like Ward a lot. But he's never had to deal with anyone like Dawson.

While Chad just fought someone who is somewhat similar to Ward.
Fair play. I'd argue with the Hop being a bigger puncher than ward though. I don't think he throws enough to make enough of an impact in terms of being respected. I think all of the things that would have made dawson respect hopkins game the other night, ward brings as well.

Hopkins would run in with his head when Dawson tried to commit, then clinch. This is something Ward does as well. Hopkins would also try to counter him with the right hand, or lead with it when he was coming into, into a clinch (head first). Something Ward does as well.

The other tricks aren't there, but there is the wide variety of other punches ward likes, plus the overall younger and faster package at this stage that makes me believe Dawson would respect ward just as much as he respected hopkins.

I think the idea of a guy lunging into him, in general, just makes dawson a bit timid at times. It was the only thing that made the hopkins fight look even somewhat competitive and it was what created trouble in the pascal fight. Ward may not be as dirty as nard in terms of the variety of dirt he has in his bag, but he's pretty blatant at times with his use of his head and shoulder.

To Dawsons credit, we are talking two entirely mindsets with Ward and Hopkins though. Hopkins loves Southpaws and has been around along time, has great intangibles. Ward, for all we know, may not react as well as the old man to the different looks dawson will present.

i think it's a pretty wide decision for Ward though, at either weight, and again, im basing it solely on the hopkins (and pascal) fights. That definitely one that can be argued either way though, so I respect anyone with a different opinion on it, considering, as I said, Hopkins and Ward are two entirely different mindsets.

lol.. dawson called out ward less than a week ago, it takes time to make a fight at this level. lots of details that have to be ironed out not to mention coming to terms with the big things like location and purse split. on top of that you need two fighters, two managers, two promoters and a network all on the same page on every detail and everybodys lawyer gotta go through the whole thing.

usually takes more than a week to get things together. not just "wanna fight?" "sure see you on saturday!"

A CW of like 172 wouldn't be bad.
          agreed 100%

If Dawson wants to and can make 68 then I hope he does. Maybe he wants to show he's good enough to be the lineal champion at 2 different divisions at the same time. That would be a very impressive feat if he could pull it off.

Got to love a guy who is just trying to make fights happen. I Think Dawson would win it too. I hope its at 175. The real champ at 175 fights the real champ at 168. That would mean a guy would have a claim to be the legitimate champ at one of the 8 Original weight classes. Would be awesome.

Happens all the time after a really big fight or the weigh ins...I think they shut it down because of too much traffic...let people go look elsewhere for their fix then open it back up after the traffic has died down

Interesting to see Chad fight at 168, but 175 is preferred.
