Also, I'm not in favor of the 4 or 5 being beaten for the belt... I'm okay with number 3.
I agree with you. But RING's ratings aren't always that great in general. Someone could be ranked 5th or 6th, in a division but really be the better fighter then the guy ranked 3rd. It's all debatable I guess.
For example Vanes Martirosyan is ranked #3 by RING. IMO he doesn't deserve to be ahead of Lara or Molina. And Trout isn't even ranked in the top 10 @ 154 and IMO he better than Martirosyan. But all of that is a matter of opinion. Martirosyan hasn't fought anyone and he ranked #3, Trout has a slightly better resume IMO, has a belt, and isn't even ranked in the top 10.

I agree with Chups, why should they have to give out the belt? If nobody earns it, nobody earns it.

I'll say this, their ratings are better than some sanctioning bodies... *cough cough* WBC * cough*

because it help to have a clear defined champion in the weight class, rather then who has the most money/avoiding his mandotories.

Just giving them the belt doesn't help though. If the number one and two don't fight, then there is no clear defined champion. If the number one beats the number three, four or the same with number 2, there's no clear champion. It'll be one guy who holds the belt over the other.

if numbere 1 n 2 are clearly ducking each other for one reason or another, i have no problem with this system. maybe it will encourage the best to fight the best in order to be recognised as the champion.

#2 is why the Ring Champ is not always the linear champ
