Chad Dawson for sure right along with B-Hop back, they wanted nothing to do with that young fighter, he was calling them out after all of his fights

Glenn Johnson (3 times allegedly), Antonio Tarver, Jones in his PRIME, B-Hop in his PRIME...lets not act as if Joe wasn't around when Jones and B-Hop was in their PRIME...BECAUSE HE WAS!

I have nothing against Joe, he was one of the best for his ERA for sure...but ALL TIME GREAT...he will just never be rated that high All Time by most regardless of a few of his internet fans try their best to help get Joe some respect

You might as well add Froch's name to the list.

Wow it seems like Joe ducked alot of fighters....I would have done exactly the same in his shoes along with most of the people on NSB.

The fights he took made him the most money that's why he took them. If Pavlik or Froch or who ever the *** ever paid like Hopkins and RJJ then the fights would have been made.

Would anyone on here go to work if they got offered a paycut?

Tarver and Johnson kept losing to each other when Calzaghe was trying to arrange a fight with one of them.

B-Hop turned Joe down, already covered and Jones was always in weight classes above him.

You could argue Glen Johnson if you don't believe he was injured. Although he pulled out of many fights with injuries against lesser opp who people don't even remember let alone say he was "ducking". The Glen Johnson one gets brought up because he suddenly KOed Roy and became a big name. Before that, he was basically a journeyman that no one gave a *** about. He wasn't really anyone to "duck". The guy lost to Omar Sheika for crying out loud!

He and Roy just weren't on each other's radar. There was one time they were gonna fight in 2003 but Roy decided to move up to HW.

People saying Hopkins crack me up because its blatantly the case that Hopkins backed out of a signed fight with Calzaghe in 2002. A similarly blatant duck to Bradley's of Amir Khan which you can almost guarantee Fat Yanks will try to revise history on in years to come much like they have Hopkins/Joe.

          I agree with this ^^^^^^^^^^^

definitely ducked Glen Johnson and he walked out on potential fights with Dawson, Pavlik, and rematches with B.Hop and Kessler....his 0 was in danger and he did what he had to do to protect it I guess....if I was him I would've beat up Pavlik before I retired...Roy was done already...Pavlik was young unbeaten and unexposed....he NEVER had any intensions on fighting Chad or rematching the Dane or the oldman....don't understand why he retired

At 168, out of Calzaghe's 21 defenses only FIVE of these guys were top-10 super-middleweights at the time Calzaghe fought them. C'mon, it took him NINE years to fight a unification fight! He could've fought the top-10 guys in his division for a start; Frankie Liles, Sven Ottke, Antwun Echols, Anthony Mundine.

So who did he duck? Well just take a look at the fights Calzaghe was linked to:

            Johnson: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/3646797.stm
            J. Taylor: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7140012.stm
            Tarver: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/3939393.stm
            Beyer: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/4806674.stm
            Woods: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7341233.stm
            Echols: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/4143549.stm
            Mundine: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/3258677.stm

The list is ENDLESS and NONE of these fights happened. They even steered clear of Winky Wright!

Calzaghe's career-defining fight was up at 175lbs, much like Hatton's was up at 147lbs. Calzaghe wanted no part of Roy Jones Jr in his prime, just listen to what he said in 2001 on the prospect of facing Jones Jr! He didn't want to 'risk it' !? In his book, he wrote Jones Jr off as a 'shot fighter' and vowed to never fight him. Guess what, he blatantly ducks Pavlik and fights Jones Jr. The worst thing is: Pavlik accepted 40%! Calzaghe left his promoter and went 50/50 with an old Roy - I bet Roy couldn't believe his luck ..... but the fight did 200,000 PPV buys which by any standards was truly appalling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzyYHSPfXZU

Why would Calzaghe avoid Hopkins? Just look at their fight in 2008. Hopkins was well past his physical prime and even at 43-years-old you could STRONGLY argue Hopkins won.

Kessler rematch? got to be kidding me... jesus christ. Hopkins rematch? that fight was ****ing **** and Joe already wanted to retire after the Jones fight.

Pavlik wanted Calzaghe to move back down, hard for an aging fighter, Dawson was young and inexperienced.

Be serious, look at some of the people on your list.. Beyer .. Woods? behave.

Lou Dibella even said JT wasn't ready for Calzaghe. Just because Calzaghe didn't have 60 fights and fought ever single fighter in his era it doesn't mean he ducked them.

Calzaghe, 5-years after being 168lb champ and talking on his career-defining fight with Jones Jr: ''I know my capabilities and unless I got paid the crown ***els I wouldn't want to risk it.''

IF (an in-his-prime) Hopkins avoided Calzaghe, why call out Calzaghe and fight him at 43-years old. C'mon. The list is endless. Calzaghe was a good but very well managed fighter.

Hopkins blatantly ducked the fight in 2002, it seems a lot of people are unaware of this fact.

To my knowledge, Hopkins has never ducked anyone. Look at his resume, just look at it. Calzaghe was protected by WBO - Warren's Boxing Organization.
