RIP Champ. Heard alot about Ganigan from fellow BSceners, but, I've never seen any fight of his until today.

Having watched this vid below, eventhough he was a terrific fighter in his own right, I would describe him as a poor man's Pacquiao.

Biggest shame other than his tragic passing is the guy who beat him up only got 18 months in prison. It directly contributed to his death and this guy is just able to walk the streets after 18 months? Thats messed up this guy should definitely get much more time. I wonder how Ganigan's family feels about that. Anyways, rest in peace champ.

This story made me sad and angry. Ganigan was an old man already and small about 5 foot 6 and 150 pounds, the guy who beat him up was some big ass Hawaiin young guy old enough to be Ganigans son. The guy was about 6 foot 2 and 290 pounds if you see his pic the guy is as big as one of Floyd Mayweathers body guards, and from what I read about this from when the story first broke he hit Ganigan with a blind side punch Ganigan dropped to the concrete out cold already and the guy continued to throw massive punches on Ganigans head and stomped his head and people just stood there and watched.

Anytime you hit a guy when he is already out cold and on the ground that should be Attempted murder.

I would never hit some old guy who was a lot smaller to me no matter how much trash he talked, I would just ignore him because I know I am stronger.

A very sad end. On another note I though Sean O'Grady was from Texas, not an Irishman.

Ganigan was unique for his time, an aggressive, hard punching southpaw. Pretty good fighter. RIP.

Somebody should shoot the assailant. 18 months for a 21 Year old is nothing. Ganigan was much older but I believe he would have had a chance since he was an ex boxer but the bastard was too big. He should have used an equalizer.

Sad. Andy was a hell of a warrior in the late 70s, early 80s.

O'Grady, BTW, was from Oklahoma City, not Ireland, but you expect some errors if Ronnie is writing the post
